FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE2/20/2008 'Unlimited' Business as Usual at DigiTel Alaska Wireless Company Ahead of the National Trend

'Unlimited' Business as Usual at DigiTel Alaska Wireless Company Ahead of the National Trend ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Headlines all week have talked about the "big changes" in the wireless market with national carriers introducing "unlimited" plans for their customers. DigiTel, a local Alaska wireless phone company, wonders what all the hoopla is about, as they have been providing their customers with the value of unlimited service since 2003.

DigiTel entered the Alaska market in 1999, on the premise of providing a value product, tailored to the Alaska marketplace. It became evident to the locally run and managed company, there was opportunity for an unlimited calling product, and so they launched with the concept in 2003.

"Local market research told us that customers wanted simplicity, and it only made sense to introduce an unlimited calling plan. As popularity of Unlimited grew, so did our options, with additions of Alaska, National or Pay-as-you-go Unlimited wireless offers," Jeff Roe, Chief Operating Officer said. "I credit our rapid growth in the wireless arena with the popularity of our Unlimited plans."

DigiTel has staked the claim of Alaska's fastest growing wireless carrier, and expects this trend to continue, even with competitors hopping on the unlimited concept, as their pricing is still far more competitive than any of their rivals. DigiTel's current Unlimited Product Line includes:

  • $79.99 National Unlimited calling
  • $49.99 Local Unlimited calling
  • $24.95 Local Shared Unlimited calling

The National Unlimited calling plan has become even more popular recently. Last fall, DigiTel became a member of the Sprint Rural Alliance, providing the most comprehensive nationwide coverage for customers. This has allowed DigiTel to price the plan more competitively, providing even more value for their customers who understand the power of the national affiliation.

DigiTel also offers Unlimited products that include more than just phone service, but also include text and data. At this time, they are the only company in Alaska offering unlimited products for wireless services that extend beyond "talk time." This product line includes: --

$69.99 Local Unlimited local and long distance calling, picture and text messaging
"Our customers know when they receive a bill from DigiTel; there are no surprises with an Unlimited plan. It is a value concept we are proud to have introduced to the Alaska market, and it is not a surprise that our competitors have decided to adopt the idea as well, given the popularity," concluded Roe.

Alaska DigiTel recently expanded its coverage to also include Valdez, Cordova, Glennallen, Paxson, Trapper Creek and Skwentna. The company has served Juneau, Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley for over five years.

Alaska DigiTel began providing CDMA wireless communication service in the state of Alaska in November of 1998. Alaska DigiTel provides 100% digital service in Greater Anchorage, the Mat-Su Valley, Fairbanks, Juneau and the Kenai Peninsula. Our fundamental goal is to provide customers with the best in wireless communications and personalized customer service. We live, work, and play in the communities we serve.
