You are eligible for GCI's LIFELINE Service if you are enrolled in Adult Public Assistance, Food Stamps or similar government programs and are a resident of a certificated Lifeline Area. This special offer includes FREE Voice Mail, Unlimited Text Messaging, Caller ID, Call Waiting and 3-Way Calling.

Size of Household Lifeline Eligibility Level Documentation of "household" income must be provided in one of the following forms:

  • A current income statement from an employer or 3 months of paycheck stubs
  • A statement of benefits from the U.S. Social Security Admin.
  • A statement of benefits from the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs
  • A retirement or pension statement of benefits
  • An unemployment or worker's compensation statement of benefits
  • A federal or tribal notice of letter of participation in general assistance
  • A divorce decree or child support document
  • Any other official document to substantiate income

“Household” means all persons who occupy a housing unit, regardless of whether they are related to each other.

Q: Am I Eligible?
A: If your primary residence is in a Lifeline certified area, including: Anchorage, Fairbanks, Homer, Juneau, Kenai, Ketchikan, Kodiak, Palmer, Seward, Soldotna, Valdez and Wasilla or adjoining areas, and you are a recipient of any one of the programs listed you may qualify.

Q: What features do I get with my service?
A: GCI includes Voice Mail, Caller ID, Unlimited Text Messaging and Call Waiting with all service plans*.

Q: How many minutes do I get?
A:You will receive unlimited state network-wide minutes every month.

Q: Can call long distance?
A: You can either apply to qualify for Long Distance pending an acceptable credit review, or use a calling card.

Q: Can I roam?
A: Roaming outside the GCI network is subject to credit approval; some networks allow roaming and in those instances roaming and long distance charges will apply.
